PublicBookshelf Goal:

The goal of PublicBookshelf is to provide a financially rewarding platform for new and previously published quality books.

What Books Qualify:

We want to see books on every topic from romantic stories to how to buy a washing machine to innovative science fiction and thought-provoking non-fiction. To qualify a book must meet our Submission Guidelines. In general, a book must meet the following qualifications:

  • The manuscript must be 10,000 words or more.
  • The content must be original to the Internet. While we welcome previously published books, we do ask for the non-exclusive digital right to publish the work in its entirety online.
  • Only the rightful owner (i.e. author or publisher of the print version) of the work may submit it. The owner must be able to provide proof of digital rights.
  • The book must be relatively error free. PublicBookshelf will not edit your work, but we do a general review to ensure the content is reasonably grammatically correct and optimized for online use.
  • The content must abide by the Terms of Use. This means your book may not include unlawful content, including defamation, abuse, harassment, stalking, threats, or otherwise violate the legal rights of others.
  • Does not include excessive profanity or violence.
  • Does not include pornography or adult content.

Revenues Earned:

The way you earn revenue on the books you publish with PublicBookshelf is through advertising revenue we earn and share with you. The advertising revenues you earn are based on a percentage of the advertising revenues earned by PublicBookshelf on ads that are placed on the pages of your book. You will be offered an advance payment against the advertising revenues that are projected by PublicBookshelf for your book.

How Publication Works:

PublicBookshelf values the creative process and understands how frustrating it can be when copyright infringement occurs. In an attempt to circumvent the publication of infringed works, we require each author to register as an author. Those who write under a pseudonym may also be required to provide additional proof, such as a publishing contract showing both your real name and pseudonym.

  1. Set up a PayPal account. All payouts are made through PayPal.
  2. Use the Author Dashboard to upload a copy of the book. See the Submission Guidelines for specific submission information.
  3. The PublicBookshelf staff will review the book to make sure it adheres to our basic guidelines for: (a) quality (grammar, spell check, general reading ease); (b) original web content; (c) minimum word count; (d) violence and obscenity tolerance levels; and (e) is optimized for online use.
  4. The book is either accepted for review or you will receive a rejection email with an explanation.
  5. If your book is accepted for review, the PublicBookshelf staff will offer you a specific amount of money as an Advance against your future earnings from advertising revenues. If you accept the amount of money, your book will be readied for publication.
  6. The PublicBookshelf staff will add a cover and prepare the book to be added to the PublicBookshelf website.

As soon as your book is published on the PublicBookshelf website, you start earning revenues!

Let the popularity and community of PublicBookshelf help you maximize your revenues.
