Event Three - Buried Treasure

Char got up at 5pm and headed for the shower. Groggily she turned on the water, got a brief spray and then heard a loud crack. The water stopped, but there was still water running somewhere! "Where is that coming from?" Char asks herself, feeling herself panic as she was still trying to wake up and focus on the situation at hand. She realized there was water running freely from underneath the trailer. Furious, she put her nightgown back on, grabbed a pair of shorts, threw them on and headed outside with her flashlight to investigate. "Shit!" She exclaimed, as she ran over to the grill, moved it back, and reached to turn off the main water valve. "I've got to stop the water!" Char heard herself screaming! The water was gushing out from the other end of her trailer at this point. She tore away a piece of the skirting, dropped to her knees in the mud and crawled under the trailer toward the main water valve.

Once under the trailer, neighbor Elmore wandered across the street, rubbing his eyes awake. He bent down and yelled over the gushing water..."What r ya doin' under thar?" To which Char impatiently replies..."I'm hiding my money Elmore!" Elmore, shocked by her reply, but still scratching his chin, nodded and said, "Well, I'd help ya, but I have a bad back and all..." His voice now sounding very loud, as Char shut off the water and his voice echoed out through the silence.

Char climbed out from under the trailer, stood up, all muddy and wet from the water. She looked at Elmore irritated and replied, "Go home Elmore, the money's safely tucked away where no one can find it." Elmore nodded that he understood and pretended to head back to his trailer. But as he saw Char going back inside, he cautiously walked back over to where she had been "burying her money" and wondered aloud to himself.."Hmmmm, and it just looked to me like she had a water leak. Money...hmmmm."

"Idiot" Char mumbled under her breath as she walked back inside. "Now just look at me, I'm a mess." She scraped off as much water and mud as she could and walked across the street to Ambies to ask to use her shower. Ambie readily agreed, for which Char was very grateful.

Later that evening, as Char came home from work, she saw her neighbors huddled in front of Elmore's trailer. "Hmmmm", she wondered to herself. "I wonder what they are up to?"
