| Biography: | Charlotte Bronte was born in England in 1816. After her mother died, she spent her early years in the lonely moors, raising her three siblings and taking care of her clergyman father. She did not enjoy her early attempts at teaching, running a school or being a governess. She followed her sisters Emily and Anne and started writing, writing Jane Eyre, her first book in her early thirties. It was an immediate success. Her brother and sisters all died within one year and she decided to marry at age 38. She died during her pregnancy the next year. |
